Translations

in so many words ...
From April 1994 to April 2018, Aileen Derieg worked as a self-employed translator, enjoying the privilege
of being able to earn a living working with other people's words,
texts she enjoyed reading, and ideas and concerns that she believes are important.

Her translation work revolved primarily around contemporary art,
media, and theory.

... in other words
Since Aileen Derieg's retirement in April 2018, now this translation work is continued by Christopher Hütmannsberger and Laura Freeburn: "I have worked with Laura Freeburn for about ten years now, since she has been taking over work I couldn’t cope with alone. I am invariably impressed by Laura’s translations, and since she is far better organized than I am, I have learned much from her in that respect as well. She has long since established her own translation business in the US, but she is still generously willing to take over translation work for me too.
Christopher Hütmannsberger grew up bilingual in English and German in the midst of the local art and culture scene in Linz. Since he was a teenager he has been performing as a hiphop musician and spoken word performer. He raps mostly in English and performs at poetry slams, readings, etc. mostly in German, and studying English at the University of Vienna has only increased his passionate interest in language. Starting 1 May 2018 Christopher will take over my business and the email address translations@eliot.at."
